NET = Best of 2020!
So, guess what? I won Best Chiropractor this year in SF Weekly’s Best of 2020 edition! :-O It’s a crazy feeling. I remember putting that on my long list of goals when I moved back to SF in 2000. When I visualized what that might look like someday, I never envisioned a global pandemic and how it would cause my practice to shift and adapt! And yet, it is fitting, considering my niche in the local chiropractic scene! Since my certification in 2002, my specialty has been NET - Neuro Emotional Technique. This means that what I help people with the most are problems that are, at their root, caused by stress. And 2020 has been… a pretty stressful year! This year, there have been more cases of jaw clenching, insomnia, depression, anxiety and digestive distress than usual, and I‘m more grateful than ever for having NET as a tool to help!
Aside from the pain itself, here are some annoying things about stress-related pain and health problems. First of all, even if you know you are stressed out, it can be hard to believe that your health problem is actually being caused by the stress! I can’t tell you how many people - even people who have been clients for many years - still look astonished when their pain or muscle dysfunction changes or vanishes once the NEC (neuro emotional complex) is cleared! For example, I recently treated a yoga instructor who, believing that she had strained her shoulder during a workout, was shocked to see the normal range of motion return after an NET treatment! But perhaps the most annoying thing about stress-related conditions is that you can know that a condition is stress-related, but, unfortunately, simply knowing it doesn’t always make it any better. For the physical manifestation to shift, it’s important to work on it from all angles - including some kind of mindbody intervention such as NET.
2020 is almost over - good riddance - but I will continue to do my best, sharpen my skills and help with the recovery! Thanks, NET, and thanks, San Francisco! xo
