So, now that enough time has gone by, I feel that I can share a little personal health crisis with y'all. Almost exactly one year ago, I went to get a haircut, and my hairdresser announced that I had alopecia! She handed me a mirror, spun the chair around, and sure enough, there was a tiny circle, about the size of a quarter, which had gone totally bald. Since it was on the back of my head, I didn't think too much about it. Oh well - so I'm stressed, so I lost a little hair. But at the next haircut, she discovered another bald circle, and also the first one had gotten larger... by the third haircut, it was starting to look really alarming back there! I didn't want to grow my hair out (although I did consider a "medical mullet"), but didn't feel comfortable shaving completely bald, either! So, I did the next best thing : I dyed my hair completely red, which seemed to hide the bald spots better than having black hair. (I also thought about having eyeballs tattooed onto the bald spots in back -- at least then I could say I had eyes in the back of my head and have a good laugh about it.) But when the hair started to fall off of the sides of my head, too, I really freaked out! I called my own go-to people for health, and they said, "Check your thyroid!" So, I did. And sure enough, it was stressed. My adrenals were burned out from stress, and it was really affecting my thyroid function. I was even starting to grow a little goiter! Yikes! Being a person who considers pharmaceuticals to be a LAST resort, not a first resort, I started in on the indicated holistic regimen. What was that, anyway? Well, it was the Fire meridian and ER911 homeopathy, and a bunch of Standard Process supplements. I had the bottles all lined up on my kitchen counter. What was my regimen? I believe it was : Thytrophin PMG, Pituitrophin PMG, Drenamin, Prolamine Iodine, Hypothalmex, Cataplex B, A-F Betafood and Paraplex. Yeah, 8 little bottles in a row! Some people balk when I recommend even just 3 supplements, but, when it comes down to it, if there's a serious problem brewing, then you need to take serious measures! Anyway, almost IMMEDIATELY upon starting the supplement regimen, my hair stopped falling out! I also did some other things to check in with the body stress : got acupuncture, got adjusted, got NET, etc. but I really think that supplement regimen was key. The bald patches started to fill in, and by fall, I was able to have my normal haircuts again. Now, my hair is even a little better off than it was before the crisis. Oh, and I'm NOT taking that whole regimen anymore. I'm down to just a few, with more emphasis on liver and joint health than endocrine. So what's the point of sharing that story? The point is that (1) anyone can get stressed out to the point of serious symptomatic crisis, (2) even scary things can be corrected without drugs and surgery and (3) the nutritional support we recommend in the office is NOT equivalent to something you can pick up at Walgreens... it's the real deal.
