The Infamous Liver Flush

Since so many people manage to "lose" their liver flush instructions, I've created a static page on this site with the instructions :

So what is this liver flush anyway? Some people make amazing claims - that is magically cures parasitic infections, viruses, liver disease, etc. Others say it's complete b.s. and nothing nothing more than a way to give yourself fancy diarrhea for a few hours.

In the simplest possible terms, it's simply a flush. Any system of tubes is naturally vulnerable to build-up and thus eventual blockage. This is true for the pipes in your sink, IV feeding tubes, your arteries, tubes in your car, etc. It's not rocket science, and it's not a crazy New Age claim. It's simple and it's true. The more "garbage" a tube has to handle, the more it is prone to unpleasant build-up, and the thicker the fluid that runs through the tube, the tube is also that much more prone to build-up. Thus, our friend, the liver. The fluid that travels through the tubes in the liver -- bile -- is fairly thick and can be thicker or thinner depending on such factors as diet, heredity, etc. Over the years, it's no surprise that these ducts can become narrowed, blocked, stressed, etc. and cause problems.

Enter the liver flush. What does it DO? Very simply, it (1) dilates the bile ducts a bit - thanks to the epsom salts and (2) causes a strong surge in bile release - thanks to the sudden ingestion of a large amount of oil. Thus, it blows out a lot of otherwise stuck pieces of semi-solid (and sometimes solid) material that wasn't up to any good just sitting there in those ducts. As with any other flush of clogged tubes, there is then a more efficient functioning of the system that had been previously working a little too hard due to the many, albeit tiny, obstructions. Thus people often feel improvements in various liver-related areas of their physiology -- sometimes improved allergies, sometimes reduction in shoulder pain, often a reduction in quantity of alcohol consumption, etc. Magic? No. Simple mechanical sense.

And how can it be true that one might benefit from a liver flush even though, according to their MD, their liver is fine? Even if the lab numbers look ok? Don't forget, your medical doctor is trained in the management of DISEASE. If an organ is not stressed to the point of actual disease - i.e. the point where you now needs drugs or surgery - then it is considered "normal." Never mind that it might be very well on the road to disease.

Does everyone need a liver flush? Probably not. Do you need one? I don't know - I can't make psychic random diagnoses over the web. If you're worried, though, and having some classic liver/gallbladder-type issues : shoulder and/or knee pain, difficulty digesting fatty foods, strong fat or sugar cravings, frequent anger/depression/frustration, itchy feet, unresolving foot fungus, skin issues, blurry vision, headaches, digestive problems, neck pain, allergies - to name just a few - then it probably would be worth doing an exam and figuring out what is really going on.

Cheers -
